Plateful of Prompts 2

In everyone’s quest to productively write, I have found prompts often spark my imagination.

Whether you are facilitating a writing group or just stymied for a story – prompts often lead us to a path of creativity and possibility. If one is working with a particular population for example, seniors, or children; they can provide just the impetus to create a dialogue with them. Prompts are a good avenue to explore for those people who may be a little reticent to open up.

Below are some prompts that might inspire you. Have fun with them!

FOR SENIORS:

  1. WHEN DID YOU GET YOUR FIRST PAYCHECK, WHAT JOB DID YOU HAVE AND HOW MUCH WAS IT FOR?

  2. WHO GAVE YOU YOUR FIST KISS?

  3. WHAT WORD BEST DESCRIBES YOU?

  4. WHAT COUNTRY DID YOU ALWAYS WANT TO VISIT? WHY?

  5. IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH ANYONE, PAST OR PRESENT WITH WHOM WOULD YOU LIKE TO DINE?

FOR CHILDREN:

  1. IF YOU COULD BE ANY COLOR IN THE RAINBOW, WHAT COLOR WOULD YOU BE?

  2. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BEDTIME STORY?

  3. IF YOU COULD INVENT AN ICECREAM FLAVOR, WHAT WOULD IT TASTE LIKE?

  4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ANIMAL?

  5. WHAT SESAME STREET CHARACTER WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE?
