Quiet Reflection

A time to reflect on all we value. A time to pause and create. A time to appreciate the resilience of the human spirit. This is what the current pandemic has enabled me to do. Although admittedly a stressful time, I cannot help but reflect on another pandemic—in another time. It helps to put things in perspective.

As a child growing up during the panic that surrounded the polio epidemic, that anxiety was tangible and fostered by parents that did not have the benefit of modern technology. Perhaps, that was better. They relied on trusting the doctors and scientists that promoted treatment and the eventual miracle vaccine.

I am grateful for modern science. I am grateful for technology. And I am grateful that we can still reflect on the people that came before us and persevered and believed tomorrow would be better. It will.
